The Reiki Association's 18th Birthday Gathering

o

Together with the Annual General Meeting of TRA

19th -21st March 2010, Harborne Hall, Birmingham

The Association’s Annual General Meeting in 2010 was held in a rather different way from the past. Many of our members had expressed a wish to have it more accessible than Buckland Hall in South Wales. A few years ago we sited the meeting as a one-day event in Birmingham, and many felt the lack of the strong reiki presence that is experienced when the meeting is incorporated into a full reiki weekend.

Our 2010 meeting was therefore held as part of a residential retreat and visioning weekend at Harborne Hall in Birmingham.
Harborne Hall has a special place in the history of our Association, being the venue for our inaugural meeting 18 years ago. So we returned to our beginnings for our coming of age

We decided on a retreat this year partly on the advice of Phyllis Furumoto, lineage bearer of Usui Shiki Ryoho, the system of reiki upon which our system of reiki was founded.

Phyllis has had very beneficial experiences of using a retreat format in meetings where deep mindfulness is called for as communities grow and change. We had plenty of time for treatments, creating a sacred and meditative space in which the best could be called out of each of us as we sought guidance for our next steps as an organisation and as a network of people initiated into reiki.

We successfully welcomed in a very special Spring Solstice! Thanks to all who took part, you  made it a very worthwhile occasion by helping to take the Association forward to an exciting future!
